GERAt is an innovative project that aims to sensitise the younger generation to the potential of sustainable tourism at a local level, promoting the valorisation of territories and their preservation, helping to ensure that we have more and more citizen-tourists who are aware of their role and the value of their actions.
GERAt is implemented through the development of interdisciplinary projects and the establishment of a partnership between participating schools/non-grouped schools and Turismo de Portugal's Network of Hospitality and Tourism Schools, and in the 2024-2025 school year it will be aimed at the 3rd cycle.
The project, which began in the 2022/2023 school year, has been going from strength to strength and in its last edition had 39 participating schools and 44 projects developed.
In the 2024/2025 school year, our ambition is to continue working together to train citizen-tourists who contribute to preserving and enhancing our identity matrix, affirming schools as spaces for interaction between people from different cultures and collaborative platforms for liaising with the territory and its agents, in the logic of an integrated school approach.
