Alumni of Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Viana do Castelo
I was born in Guimarães, where I started my career as a bartender, working weekends to earn some money for expenses. I became more interested in the area and joined Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Viana do Castelo to study the Food and Beverage Management course in the 2014/15 academic year.
After graduating, I completed a successful internship at the Bela Vista Relais Chateaux in Portimão, embarking on my first big adventure as a bartender when I opened the Ammar Restaurant/Cocktail Parlour in Leça da Palmeira.
This challenge allowed me to create my signature menu and publicise my work.
I was interested in the courses in Porto, where I could learn more and meet other bartenders in the city.
I soon had the opportunity to work in a bar about to open in Porto, The Royal Cocktail Club, in April 2017, a bar entirely dedicated to cocktails, which offered a scenic experience in the preparation and presentation of drinks.
I was at the Royal Cocktail Club for 4 years, and as one of the team’s pillars and one of the longest-serving members, I was honoured as Portugal's Young Best Talent at the Bar Awards of Drinks Diary 2018.
In 2019, I continued to perform up to expectations, winning the title of World Class Portugal Bartender of the Year.
In the meantime, I embarked on my greatest adventure: opening my own bar in Porto, Torto - Bar & Cocktails, which opened in October 2021.
Throughout my career, I have taken part in various training courses and workshops, especially in modern and creative mixology and American bartending. Realising that this is a constantly changing area, I force myself to learn continuously, which is essential for anyone working in the sector.
