The Porto Hotel and Tourism School (EHTP) is launching a new training programme this week dedicated to Extended Reality (XR), aimed at its teaching staff and forming part of the European TourXpeRience project.
The main aim of this initiative is to modernise Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the tourism sector by promoting the integration of immersive technologies into teaching and learning processes. Through the use of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) tools, the project seeks to strengthen the development of digital, entrepreneurial and sustainable skills, preparing education professionals for the challenges of digital transformation.
The training programme will begin on 24 September with an online session presenting the TourXpeRience platform, followed by a series of face-to-face workshops dedicated to the various XR technologies and their application in an educational context.
Structured in a progressive manner, the training will enable participants to explore the potential of immersive technologies, acquiring the technical and pedagogical skills required for their effective integration into teaching practices. The programme also includes opportunities for reflection and sharing, through working groups focused on the pedagogical applicability of XR, as well as the development of a practical project aimed at creating innovative learning experiences.
Over the course of several sessions, teachers will have the opportunity to experiment with emerging digital tools, exchange experiences with colleagues and develop new approaches to immersive learning in tourism education.
With this initiative, EHTP reinforces its commitment to educational innovation and to preparing professionals capable of meeting the demands of a tourism sector that is increasingly technology-driven, sustainable and experience-oriented.
