The first school in the Turismo de Portugal network of schools to be awarded the Green Flag, it has been an Eco-School for over 10 years, endeavouring to integrate sustainability and concern for the well-being of our planet into all its activities. The EcoSchools Programme is an international educational project promoted by the European non-governmental organisation Foundation for Environmental Education and supported by the European Commission. The Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Douro-Lamego has been developing this project for 9 years in line with the goals and objectives for Sustainable Development in all aspects of student’s education, making them responsible citizens of their actions and concerned about the future of the planet and Humanity. Bearing in mind that the Douro-Lamego School of Hospitality and Tourism will be developing the Agro-Forestry project, all the actions will be aimed at framing this project to transform the natural space surrounding the school into a natural and live laboratory.
