Diana Peixoto
Alumni of Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Viana do Castelo
My name is Diana Peixoto, I'm 25 years old from Guimarães. I began my journey in the culinary world by attending Level 4 cookery. During my first apprenticeship at BUXA I had the opportunity to move into the office, where I stayed for two years, combining work with my cookery course.
I decided to specialise, and enrolled in the Food and Beverage Management course, during which I had the opportunity to do an international internship at the Pepe Vieira Restaurant in Pontevedra. At the end of the traineeship, I was offered the chance to continue working but I returned to Viana to finish my degree.
While attending the school, I worked in a signature cuisine restaurant, Le Babachris, where I had contact with a more comprehensive wine list.
After my graduation, I worked for one year in Portugal and returned to Galicia, where I was warmly welcomed at the Pepe Vieira Restaurant.
In March 2019 I arrived at Galicia, aged 21, and have been there since. In October I began my journey in the “sommelier’s world”.
My grandparents made wine at home, so I've been curious about the world of wine ever since. When I arrived at Pepe Vieira, I came across an extensive wine list, which, at the time, already had around 300 references. I knew that this would be my path.
Since graduating in 2021, I have taken full responsibility for the beverage management at “Pepe Vieira” and other corporation establishments such as “A Ultramar”, a tapas tavern, and “Pazo da Buzaca”, an events space.
My main focus, however, is the Pepe Vieira Restaurant, which has just been awarded its second Michelin star.
