The Vocational Course in Front-Office & Housekeeping Techniques prepares students to exercise technical functions in hotels, tourism companies, travel agencies, and other bodies of tourism activity.

This training allows an acquisition of knowledge and practical experience in the areas of Hotel Reception, Tourism Information, Travel Agencies, and Transport, as well as a new learning approach incorporating best practices, international opportunities, and business market expectations.

Who can attend the course?

  • Holders of the 9th grade or legally equivalent qualification
  • Young people up to the age of 25. Preferably students under the age of 20.
  • 3 academic years + 2 curricular internships
  • The Vocational Course of Front-Office & Housekeeping Techniques has a duration of 3 years (full-time), divided into 6 semesters, including 2 curricular internships of 3 months duration each. Students have the opportunity to select hotels and resorts, tourism companies, travel agencies, and other reference bodies in the tourism sector to carry out their internship.

  • Plan the tourism information and promotion service and tourism entertainment activities;
  • Monitor trends in the evolution of tourism types and segments, as well as new tourism products and services;
  • Update general, historical, and cultural tourism information to promote new tourism products and services;
  • Listening to customers' motivations and interests, to create a supply of saleable tourism entertainment activities and guarantee their satisfaction;
  • Provide information, promote, and market tourism products and services following the organisation's strategy and commercial and promotional policy and the needs and motivations of customers.
  • Organise, develop, and market tourism entertainment activities, following the organisation's strategy and commercial policy and the needs and motivations of customers.
  • Carry out customer service and welcome at the tourism service provision site, according to the procedures and the needs and motivations of customers.
  • Promote and lead tourism entertainment activities, by organising the activities and the participants in the time and space for the entertainment.
  • Monitor and assess the tourism entertainment activities developed.
  • Carry out or collaborate in the prospection of new customers, as well as in the management of the customer portfolio.
  • Draw up reports and other control documents relating to their activity.

Career Opportunities

  • The Tourism Information and Entertainment Technician is a professional qualified to provide information, promote and market tourism products and services and provide customer service and reception, as well as plan, organise, market, and promote tourism entertainment activities, in order to ensure quality service and customer satisfaction. This training offer allows the continuation of studies towards the Technological Specialisation Courses of the network of Schools of Turismo de Portugal and towards higher education in a related area, establishing the connection between the training of intermediate staff, recognition of knowledge and skills and the respective conclusion of a cycle of higher studies.

At the end of the course, the students obtain the equivalence to the 12th grade and a level 4 qualification diploma, which gives access to the occupations of Hotel Receptionist, Travel Agency and Transport Technician, and Tourism Receptionist. Training offer created by Ordinance No. 102 of 24 April 2020.
