Our mission is to train professionals with technical skills that allow them to design cultural and heritage programmes and activities, in entertainment/events/culture companies, as well as tourism information professionals, focusing on the customer experience, in an ethical and sustainable way.

The Technological Specialisation Course in Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management prepares students for the exercise of technical and management functions in tourism and/or cultural services, equipment and sites.

The multiplicity, richness and specificity of the national cultural heritage are a reason for discovery, but also a complement to other reasons for travelling, contributing to the concentrated diversity.

This training allows the acquisition of knowledge and technical skills in the area of cultural tourism and heritage, as well as integrated management skills, based on innovative learning models.

Who can attend the course?

  • Adults aged 18 or over, holders of secondary education or legally equivalent qualification
  • Holders of a technological specialisation diploma or a higher education degree or diploma who wish to undergo professional requalification
  • Attendance of an education or training course or an RVCC (Recognition, Validation and Certification of Professional Skills) process, at secondary level
  • 2 semesters + 1 curricular internship + Initiation Programme (150h)
  • The Course in Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management has a duration of 1 year (full-time), divided into 2 semesters, including a curricular internship of 500h duration. Students have the opportunity to select tourism and/or cultural services, equipment and sites, from public or private entities of reference, to carry out their internship.
  • The Initiation Programme (150h) corresponds to a training plan for the acquisition of skills for entry to the course for students without training in a related area, and they may be recognised and exempted from attending the training units that compose it.

  • Design and plan cultural tourism and heritage programmes
  • Programme, organise and promote cultural tourism and heritage programmes, activities, visits, routes and events, in accordance with the needs, interests and expectations of the market
  • Cooperate with the different partners interested in the tourism and cultural development of the region or site
  • Establish and implement a marketing and communication plan
  • Establish and implement distribution and sales strategies for tourism programmes and products
  • Monitor and assess the implementation of tourism programmes carried out in the various components of the process

Career Opportunities

  • The Specialist Technician in Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management is the professional qualified to plan, coordinate, develop tourism programmes, promote, communicate and market cultural tourism and heritage products that contribute to the knowledge of the tourist destination, its attractiveness, enhancement and sustainability, in public and private entities, as well as in tourism and/or cultural services, equipment and sites.

The Schools of Turismo de Portugal have protocols signed with various national and international higher education institutions.

This training offer allows the continuation of studies towards higher education in a related area, establishing the connection between the training of intermediate staff, recognition of knowledge and skills and the respective conclusion of a cycle of higher studies.

At the end of the Course, students obtain a Technological Specialisation Diploma, which gives access to the exercise of the occupation of Specialist Technician in Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management.
